Bio:

Hailey Kardos is a photographer who creatively styles a calm west coast aesthetic through her images. She grew up in Newport Beach, California where that beach town aesthetic was engraved in her identity and now in her artistic practices. Her passion for photography came from capturing her teenage experiences through a lens; she loved it so much that Hailey received her BFA in Art & Design with a concentration in Photography from the University of California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo. With her interest in landscape photography, this education in SLO was perfect due to the city being a mix of the coast: something familiar to her, and farm country with rolling green hills: new places and lifestyle she got to explore. She now creates photography prints as fine art to interior designers.

Statement:

I produce images that have an everlasting reminiscence of beauty to them. With my range of landscapes, portraits, or products—I have the ability to achieve a dreamy, calm, and light aesthetic throughout. Most of my inspiration for my images comes from the raw beauty of pure environments and natural light. Growing up close to the beach, I would always admire the way the sun's light reflected on the ocean’s tide producing that hazy magical feeling. That feeling is the mood I create in my images through compositional styling and pastel colors.

Besides using my digital camera for most of my work, I can replicate that mood just by using 35mm film. Film has a nostalgic energy that reminds me of my teenage experiences and photography origins. No matter which camera I use, I aspire to showcase my artistic heart through my photographs.
